Originally from Hunan province in southern China, Meng earned his BS in Biological Sciences from China Agricultural University. In 2010, he joined BCMB department and stayed in Bruce Lab until 2011 before he joined the UTK-ORNL ESE graduate program. Currently, his research involves the understanding the nature of photosystem I trimers and characterizing photosystems in cyanobacteria. Meng strongly believes that hydrogen will be the substitute for fossil fuels. In his free time, he enjoys using Google Maps, Google Earth and cartography tools and listening to the radio.
