Hello Bredesen Center Students and Faculty,
It is with great sadness that we inform you that our student Ron Sadlier passed away on Monday, May 04, 2020. Ron has been in the ESE PhD program at the Bredesen Center since 2017, where he has been working on research that merges quantum computers with high-performance computing to solve intractable problems in scientific computing. Ron came to UT from Rhode Island where he received his BS degree in physics and applied mathematics from the University of Rhode Island. He has played an instrumental role in several key scientific demonstrations of quantum information, including a world-record demonstration of quantum communication with his colleagues at ORNL. The center staff and all of Ron’s colleagues will miss him dearly.
These are testing times for all of us, and this news may make you feel overwhelmed. If you are a UT student and need counseling, please call 865-974-2196 to schedule an appointment. Please know there are also resources available for Faculty/Staff via 946-CARE and the Employee Assistance Program by calling 855-Here4TN (855-437-3486) www.Here4TN.com.
Let us keep Ron’s family in our thoughts and prayers.
With best regards
Travis Humble
