Biography

Supervising Faculty: Uday Vaidya, Dayakar Penumadu

Alex is interested in fiber reinforced composite materials, their manufacturing technologies, and their applications in the automotive sector and additive manufacturing.  During his undergraduate career, he founded Samambu LLC, which focused on bamboo fiber composites for architectural applications.  After graduation in 2012, Alex continued Samambu part-time while working as a product engineer for Holland LP, a railroad supply company.  At Holland LP, he gained valuable experience in understanding customer needs and translating them into a functional product.  Alex looks forward to combining his product development experience with scientifically based research to help advance the field of composites.
