Ben Lawrie

Biography

Dr. Ben Lawrie is a research scientist in the Quantum Information Science group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  He received his PhD in Interdisciplinary Materials Science from Vanderbilt University in 2011, and subsequently joined the QIS group as an Intelligence Community Postdoctoral Research Fellow.  Since Dr. Lawrie joined the QIS group as a research scientist in 2013, his research has centered on the junction of quantum optics and nanophotonics.  He has focused on the development of quantum states of light for integration into nanophotonic sensing and information processing platforms, and has ongoing research aimed at harnessing nonlinear nanophotonic interactions for the generation of quantum states of light on-chip.
