Blake Hawley

Energy Conversion and Storage

Biography

Supervising Faculty: Dr. Jianlin Li

I was raised in Cloverport, KY and finished my high school studies at Western Kentucky University as a graduate of the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science. I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a degree in chemical engineering in 2017. Since moving to Knoxville to join the Bredesen Center, I have enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and hiking in area parks, playing sports, and learning to cook!

Research

My research interests include:

  • Aqueous processing of energy-dense lithium-ion battery cathodes
  • Colloidal phenomena in lithium-ion battery electrode dispersions
  • Templating cathode architectures for energy and power-dense lithium-ion batteries
  • All-solid-state lithium metal battery cathode development
