Biography
Supervising Faculty: Patrick Biddix
Kriss Gabourel is pursuing a PhD in Data Science and Engineering with an emphasis in Higher Education Research. In addition to undertaking her coursework, Kriss is a graduate research assistant in the Postsecondary Education Research Center (PERC). Her general area of research is evaluating the role of Big Data in higher education research.
Prior to returning to school, Kriss worked as a data analyst in the Office of Institutional Research at the University of Tennessee System. She was one of the primary database designers for the System’s consolidated data repository, and served as a lead user for the System Business Intelligence Team. Her role as an analyst afforded her opportunities to familiarize herself with the many different types of data maintained by higher education institutions.
In addition to her primary research interests, Kriss is eager to study business intelligence design, educational data mining, and the role of community colleges in higher education.
In her spare time, Kriss enjoys making music and spending time with her family.
