My research interests are in energy efficiency of the built environment and how to better connect them to renewables. Coming from industry experience in commercial HVAC and MEP, I think reducing the carbon footprint of commercial and residential buildings through their energy use is something that can be done from the first design to the last retrofit of a building. Being able to study in the outreach sector along with engineering while at the Bredesen Center for is important to me coming from a small town in rural Wisconsin. Energy security across all grid levels, from national down to local, is an increasingly important area for renewable integration and I believe in starting that transition now no matter what the community size.
