Tim Yates

Bioenergy and Biofuels

Biography

Supervising Faculty: Wellington Muchero

Tim’s research experience in plant biology began with synthetic and molecular biology projects. Both with aims to produce plants with valuable, and or novel phenotypes that have applications to various industries.

Tim’s current research interests focus on understanding genome evolution in Populus trichocarpa, with a primary interest in understanding the underpinnings of new gene innovation. Tim uses molecular tools and genetic analysis to better understand how new genes arise and their roles in adaptation, which, has various applications, ranging from enhanced resiliency to potential uses in synthetic biology.
