Three Minute Thesis

If you are interested in science outreach and communication, or want an opportunity to practice your pitching skills, Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is an excellent opportunity! The challenge is to present your thesis in a coherent, understandable manner in three minutes with only a single slide. The hardest part is making sure you’re not going over people’s heads while maintaining interest – the key to a good pitch!

It’s a fantastic time! Not only do you practice your own presentation/pitch skills, but you also have the opportunity to network with students from other departments and learn about their thesis projects, programs, and fields.

This year, the final presentations for Bredesen Center students will be part of our retreat on January 8th, 2019. The winner of this competition will be advanced to the semi-finals in March for a chance to compete in the finals during UT’s Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week.

Jessica Velez represented the Bredesen Center in the 3MT presentations in 2018, and won the University of Tennessee 3MT competition! She will be representing the University of Tennessee at the regional 3MT competition on February 16th at the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools.
