Data Science and Engineering (DSE)
Clinton Stipek is a data scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) with a proven track record in both research and development. He excels in creating innovative solutions through feature engineering, exploratory analysis, machine and deep learning. His expertise lies in large geospatial datum where he uncovers meaningful insights. His work has been published in leading journals such as Nature: scientific reports and Computers, Environment and Urban Systems. He has also been accepted to multiple peer-reviewed conferences such as ACM Sigspatial and IEEE Big Data. Furthermore, he was awarded the Early Career Research Award for his directorate this past year at ORNL in recognition of his achievements.
Education
Stipek holds an M.S. in Ecology from the University of Miami and a B.S. in Geophysics from the University of Washington.
Research
Stipek is a lifelong learner who is currently working within the realm of geospatial datum, in particular the built environment. His research is investigating generative AI and its retrieval abilities for buildings. In particular, he is focused on disseminating the current structure of text-to-sql for spatial queries by leveraging multi-agentic workflows to improve upon the current state-of-the-art.
