Daniel Saedi Nia attended the University of California, Irvine, and earned a B.S. in Computer Science.
Saedi then joined the Integrated Computational Earth Sciences group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) as a post-baccalaureate intern. During his internship, he earned the “Best IGNITE Talk” award for the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program at ORNL and presented at the Earth System Grid Federation-2 US project meeting and the American Geophysical Union (AGU) 2025 conference. He was also able to publish his research at ORNL in the IEEE Int. Conf. Data Mining Workshops (ICDMW), 2025.
Research
Saedi’s research has primarily focused on developing data-accessibility AI tools to enable easier, more streamlined access to Earth system science observational and model simulation data. This includes fine-tuning LLMs on custom datasets and creating domain-specific agents.
