Program:

Genome Science and Technology (GST)

Education

Josie King completed her B.S. in Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2023. Afterwards, she interned at ORNL in the Molecular and Cellular Imaging group studying the poplar microbiome.

Research

King studies per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and develops methods to better improve the detection of these ubiquitous environmental contaminants. Along with this, she is interested in characterizing biomass-associated PFAS and the enzymatic degradation of PFAS using computational simulations.
