Genome Science and Technology (GST)
Long started his PhD in Genome Science & Technology with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2022. He’s worked at Eastman Chemical Company as a Lab Analyst, Bays Mountain Park as a Naturalist Intern, and in education roles at ETSU. He regularly present his doctoral research at conferences and meetings within the Department of Energy’s Center for Bioenergy Innovation.
Education
Long completed his BS in Biology and Chemistry in 2020 and MS in Biology in 2022 at East Tennessee State University.
Research
Long’s research focuses on genetic tools and their applications in metabolic engineering of industrially-relevant microbes. His work aims to improve conversion of renewable feedstocks to value-added fuels and chemicals for energy security and sustainable bioproduction.
