Nathan Lambert
Energy Science and Engineering (ESE)
Lambert currently holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a focus on precision systems design, optical systems design, metrology, and non-linear dynamics/control systems.
Post-graduation, he worked as a Metrology/process engineer and later as an engineering team manager at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
He is currently a technical staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and a Bredesen Center student in the Energy Science and Engineering program.
Lambert’s previous work at ORNL includes research in the areas of large-scale metal additive manufacturing, quantum computing, AI/ML driven systems, nuclear non-proliferation, and national security science.
Research
Lambert’s research with the Bredesen Center will focus on three core areas: quantum physics/optics, AI/ML systems, and national security policy.
His research will involve developing quantum sensing systems and then using AI/ML to develop data-analysis approaches that better classify and characterize the resulting data.
