Rui Matsubara

Graduate Student
Program:

Energy Science and Engineering (ESE)

Matsubara is from Kamakura, Japan, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering with a minor in nuclear engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Previously, he worked with the process control lab at Georgia Tech, where he investigated the behavior of Raman spectroscopy under suspended solids using Monte Carlo simulation. Presented a poster at the 2024 AIChE conference in San Diego, CA.

Research

Interaction among tungsten, helium, and hydrogen bubbles under plasma conditions. He will use several MD-based simulation approaches, and we will also verify the results through experiments. The main focus will be quantifying the H and He populations in W using a first-principles model.
