Vanshika Singh is a Ph.D. Candidate (2019-Present) at the Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Education (UT-Oak Ridge Innovation Institute) in the Energy Science and Engineering Department. Her faculty advisors are Dr. Michael M. Kirka and Prof. Sudarsanam Suresh Babu. She has a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical and Automation Engineering from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Delhi, India (2012-16), and worked at General Electric Aerospace (formerly GE Aviation), India, for three years (2016-19). Her research interest is nature-inspired structural design via Additive Manufacturing. Her research projects include component redesign for power plants and gas turbines. During her graduate studies, she has two accepted peer-reviewed journal papers, one provisional patent, secured first-runner-up in Blue Sky Competition at the 49th NAMRC conference, and NSF student grant recipient for MPIF 2021 & 2022. She is also a member of Student Advisory Council Member for Bredesen Center. In this role, she contributes to easing the life of Bredesen Center students by listening to their concerns, communicating the same to the senior leadership, and strengthening the bond among the students. Outside work, I enjoy cooking, listening to music, meeting friends over coffee, and playing sports.
